Columbia Crest Winery Featured in John Sarich’s New Cookbook “Chef in the Vineyard”
07.19.2010
Discover a selection of premiere wine estates from Washington, Oregon and California through the pages of “Chef in the Vineyard,” the new book by Chef John Sarich. In his fifth book Sarich presents a unique travel cookbook that includes more than 140 wine-friendly recipes with recommended wine pairings from each featured estate, including Columbia Crest Winery.
The book takes readers on a visual tour of each region. Sarich tells the story of 10 selected wineries, providing unique perspective with each one’s history, terroir and wine. The excursion begins with Washington State’s historic Chateau Ste. Michelle and continues the journey through Washington, visiting Columbia Crest, Snoqualmie, Col Solare, Northstar and Spring Valley Vineyard. Heading south, the tour explores Erath winery of Oregon and onto California’s Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Conn Creek and Antica Napa Valley.
“My life was changed due to the time I spent around wine and food,” said Sarich. “My hope is that I am able to open the world’s eyes to the quality wines being produced in the Pacific Northwest and California, and to have these wines enjoyed with local, fresh, easy-to-prepare dishes.”
Overflowing with delectable three-course menus, “Chef in the Vineyard” captures the essence of the region with a collection of mouthwatering recipes including Grilled Peaches with Prosciutto paired with the Columbia Crest Two Vines Sauvignon Blanc and Flat Iron Steak with Potatoes, Peppers and Onions paired with the Columbia Crest Walter Clore Private Reserve Red Wine. Alongside each menu is a list of Sarich’s favorite ingredients from the area.
“Chef in the Vineyard” retails for $32.95 and is available at Columbia Crest winery, as well as bookstores, major chains and supermarkets across the country, or by contacting the publisher.
