“Bargin crowd pleaser” - Star Tribune - December 07, 2011 2009 Two Vines Merlot Washington State
Another "genre" that has been unfairly maligned of late, merlot finds especially good expression in Washington. This winery makes good merlot at several prices; the spicy, refreshing "Two Vines" is the entry level. Nice entry, guys.
“Best Buys in the Market” - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - May 01, 2011 2008 Two Vines Merlot Washington State
...win special mention for their surprising varietal honesty at bargain prices.
Richmond Times-Dispatch - April 24, 2011 2008 Two Vines Merlot Washington State
A rich and full-bodied wine with hints of black cherry and raspberry on the smooth palate with spice rounding to a silky finish. A great wine with a simple meal or just for a relaxing glass.
85 points - “Good Value” - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - April 01, 2011 2008 Two Vines Merlot Washington State
The surprising thing about this wine is not that it is balanced or clean or smooth in the way that Merlot should be; it is that it actually smells and tastes of real varietal fruit. It fights with a bit of the finishing dryness that seems a family trait, but it remains well-focused on fruit and will be softened by service with food.
“Daily Wine Pick.” - WineSpectator.com - November 01, 2010 2008 Two Vines Merlot
Bright and jazzy, with a refreshing zing to the raspberry and floral flavors, picking up a nice cinnamon note on the finish. (scored 86 points 10/31/10)
