“Recommended & Excellent Value” - Northwest Palate - June 01, 2007 2003 Two Vines Merlot Columbia Valley

Notes of earth and black fruits appear on the nose, while blackberry and plum fruit coat the tongue. Notes of dried herbs and a touch of forest floor give the wine additional character, while soft tannins add to its lush appeal. Drink now, preferably with barbecued ribs.

“Outstanding! Best Buy” - Wine Press Northwest - June 01, 2006 2002 Two Vines Merlot Columbia Valley

Merlot helped put Washington on the map, and this release is a marvelous ambassador. Aromatics conjure up signs of plums, forest floor, bell pepper, Olympic Peninsula black truffles and tomato soup, but they don’t indicate the true essence of flavors. Black cherries and red raspberries make up the delicious fruit. The near absence of tannin allows the nice acidity to prop up the fruit through a finish of milk chocolate.

88 points - “Best Buy” - Wine Enthusiast - June 01, 2006 2002 Two Vines Merlot Columbia Valley

This is the gold standard for $8 Merlot from anywhere in the world. Pretty fruit is highlighted by bright raspberry scents. Smooth and creamy in the mouth, with lovely flavors of sweet cherry and milk chocolate.

84 points - “Recommended” - California Grapevine - March 01, 2006 2002 Two Vines Merlot Columbia Valley

Pleasant, herbal, spicy, wild cherry fruit aroma; medium to medium-full body; soft, supple, slightly tarrish, black cherry and blackberry fruit flavors; medium to medium-full tannin; slightly lingering aftertaste. Easy to drink now.

88 points - “Best Buy” - Wine Enthusiast - December 15, 2004 2001 Two Vines Merlot Columbia Valley

Bright raspberry scents, with a fresh and lifted aspect that adds to its immediate appeal. The blend includes 10% Cab Franc and 10% Cab Sauvignon, a lot of complexity in an $8 wine. This is substantial, layered, with a plummy, herbal, fairly tannic middle and plenty of weight in the follow-through.
