88 points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - August 01, 2008 2004 Reserve Walter Clore Red Blend Columbia Valley
This wine's first aromas of ripe cherries and briary spice are supported by milder but complexing notes of cassis and caramel, and these themes are repeated in wine's medium-depth flavors. Supple to begin and very much in the manner of Merlot, the wine becomes a bit tougher and tighter at the back and will reward some two to five years of cellar time.
91 points - Wine Advocate - July 01, 2008 2004 Reserve Walter Clore Red Blend Columbia Valley
The 2004 Walter Clore Private Reserve Red Blend is 54% Cabernet Sauvignon and 46% Merlot. It was aged in new French oak for 24 months. The aromatics deliver smoke, toast, spice box, cassis, and black currants. On the palate the wine is smooth textured and powerful. It has outstanding depth and concentration, enough structure to evolve for 4-5 years, and a long, pure finish
86 points - Wine Enthusiast - May 01, 2008 2004 Reserve Walter Clore Red Blend Columbia Valley
This is roughly 50-50 Cabernet and Merlot. The challenge for the Clore designate is to establish a specific personality apart from the winery’s many other super premium red blends. This seems like a rather ordinary wine. It’s sound and good, but does not rise to a higher level.

Medium to medium-dark ruby; attractive, herbal, toasty, plummy, dark currant and black cherry fruit aromas with a hint of rhubarb; medium-full to full body; tight, herbal, cedary, toasty, dark currant and blackberry fruit flavors with a layer of vanilla; firmly structured; medium-full to full tannin; a bit hard on the finish; lingering aftertaste.
