A big, toasty wine, this has a sweet core of black raspberry flavor that gives way to a charry, intense finish. Serve it with a steak.

The 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve was sourced from a variety of vineyard sites in several AVAs. It was aged for 26 months in 100% new oak, a mix of French and American. Purple-colored, the wine exhibits scents of pain grille, scorched earth, black currant, blackberry, and licorice. On the palate it offers abundant spicy black fruits, chocolate, and moch!. There is plenty of depth and a long 45+ second finish. The structure is present for 4-6 years of further development in the bottle and it should provide pleasure through 2030.
“Excellent” - Wine Press Northwest - June 01, 2007 2003 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley
It’s a reserve on a large scale, and there’s not much holding this back after emerging from 26 months in barrel. First, come hints of plums, black cherries, black tea, flint and sheetrock chalk. A delicious entry with abundant fruit awaits as black cherries and plums surge into a smooth mid-palate of a Hershey’s Kiss, then black cherry acidity hangs on for a good long time.
89 points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - April 01, 2007 2003 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley
There is certain suggestion of Merlot in the sweet, mildly vanillin, cherry-like aromas of this amicable wine, and, while it shows an evident backbone of tannin, it hints once more at Merlot in its very smooth, raspberry and milk chocolate flavors. It promises a bit of mid-term improvement but is wholly likeable now, and it comes with special recommendation to all looking for an attractive and fairly interesting wine that requires little patience.^
89 points - Wine Enthusiast - November 27, 2006 2003 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley
Firm, chewy and tannic, this newly released wine takes a while to open up. It shows a pleasing sweet cocoa and berry core of fruit that expands into coffee, toast, black tea and even a bit of cola. The finish feels like a bit of fresh, rain-soaked earth -- not unpleasant. Overall, though very young, the wine shows good potential. ^
