93 points - Wine Advocate - September 01, 2007 2003 Reserve Walter Clore Red Blend Columbia Valley
The 2003 Walter Clore Private Reserve is even better. It is composed of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc aged for 28 months in new French oak. A classy nose of smoky oak, vanilla, lead pencil, plum, black currant, and blackberry leads to a rich, still youthful wine with loads of extract, thick fruit, superb integration of oak, tannin, and acidity, and a very long finish.
“Recommended” - Wine Press Northwest - April 01, 2007 2003 Reserve Walter Clore Red Blend Columbia Valley
One of the most sought-after Bordeaux blends in the Northwest, its heritage is that of Cab, Merlot and Cab Franc. Hints of cherry, alfalfa and vanilla cascade into flavors of cherries.
88 points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine - April 01, 2007 2003 Reserve Walter Clore Red Blend Columbia Valley
Straightforward, red-cherry fruit is dressed up with a nice bit of sweet oak in both the open aromas and clean, fairly frontal flavors of this easy-to-like wine. Although a touch dry at the finish, it is generally supply and polished in feel, and its temperate tannins do nothing to interfere with comparatively early drinking.^
90 points - Wine Spectator - February 01, 2007 2003 Reserve Walter Clore Red Blend Columbia Valley
Ripe and spicy, with an earthy edge to the blackberry and cherry flavors, finishing with distinction. The crisp tannins could use some time to soften. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Best from 2008 through 2011.
88 points - “Highly Recommended” - California Grapevine - October 31, 2006 2003 Reserve Walter Clore Red Blend Columbia Valley
Medium-dark purplish ruby; attractive, forward, intense, plummy, slightly herbaceous, black cherry and blackberry fruit aroma with a touch of pencil lead; full body; rich, spicy, supple, ripe blackberry fruit flavors; medium-full to full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Very enjoyable to drink over the near term.
