“Year's Best Syrah” - Wine & Spirits - February 01, 2012 2008 Reserve Syrah Coyote Canyon Vineyards
Dark, earthy and nearly as dense as fruitcake, this wine shows a clean purple line of fruit with a little time and air. It’s tightly wound for now. Cellar, then serve with braised lamb shank, (scored 90 points in 6/2011)
88 points - The Wine Advocate - August 31, 2011 2008 Reserve Syrah Horse Heaven Hills
The 2008 Reserve Syrah Coyote Canyon Vineyard is a glass-coating opaque purple color. Smoke, game, bacon, and blueberry aromas are enticing but on the palate the wine is narrow and austere. It could evolve and elevate its pleasure quotient but that is a gamble.

90 points - Wine Enthusiast - May 01, 2011 2008 Reserve Coyote Canyon Vineyard Syrah Horse Heaven Hills
A fine single-vineyard Syrah, aromatic with seductive scents of berry and earth, accented with toast and set up in the mouth with firm tannins. It’s an elegant take on Syrah, very pretty, juicy and tart.
“Good Value” - Northwest Palate - May 01, 2011 2008 Coyote Canyon Vineyard Reserve Syrah Horse Heaven Hills
Exceptionally saturated purple color with fuchsia-pink rims leads to a rich nose of violet-tinged blackberry fruit with accents of spice and earth. Initially silky on the palate, bold flavors of boysenberry are surrounded by dusty tones of earth, toast, mocha and minerals. Distinct tannins emerge on the mid-palate giving notable structure to the wine and a puckering impact, but lingering notes of violet flowers and hints of espresso and chocolate on the finish make for a powerful and complex Syrah.
