86 points - Wine Enthusiast - December 31, 2009 2006 Two Vines Merlot-Cabernet Washington State
It is amazing that 134,000 cases of this budget bottling can be made to this level of quality. From a classic vintage, it’s structured and substantial, overcoming the somewhat overdone vanilla flavors with great fruit and firm acids.
85 points - Wine Spectator - May 31, 2009 2006 Two Vines Merlot Cabernet Washington State
Light in texture, with pleasant plum and spice flavors that linger against fine tannins.
4 stars - Restaurant Wine - March 27, 2009 2006 Two Vines Merlot-Cabernet Washington State
The blend is somewhat more complex; a supple, full bodied wine, with ripe fruit (black currant, cherry) and spicy oak character (toast, cedar). Very well balanced; medium long finish.
86 points - “Best Buy” - Wine Enthusiast - December 01, 2008 2005 Two Vines Merlot-Cabernet Washington State
The newest release of Two Vines Merlot-Cabernet is from the outstanding 2005 vintage, and is easily the best since 2002. Dusty, toasty and bone dry, this excellent budget red includes a little Cabernet Franc in the blend. Along with the supple berry-flavored fruit, there are pleasing grace notes of spice, coffee and cocoa.
“Vintage Value and Excellent Value” - Northwest Palate - August 01, 2008 2005 Two Vines Merlot-Cabernet Washington State
Some initial mustiness blows off to reveal currant and cassis scents backed by light barrel toast. On the palate, currant and cherry fruit is plentiful, yet controlled by good structure and balance. Cocoa and plum flavors emerge with time. A well-made and rather elegant blend that would be great with barbequed chicken.
